Valtravieso Crianza is a red wine produced by the winery Valtravieso Bodegas y Viñedos in Piñel de Arriba (Valladolid). D.O. Ribera del Duero. Valtravieso Bodegas y Viñedos has its origin in 1985 when they planted their first vines in the estate La Revilla. It was not until 1996 when they released their first vintage to the market. Currently Valtravieso Bodegas y Viñedos owns more than 70 hectares of vineyards that produce 80% of their capacity, and for the rest they buy grapes of excellent quality from local winegrowers. This allows them to produce wines of excellent quality with a unique personality. Valtravieso Crianza is a red wine made with Tinto Fino (90%) Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes from vineyards located at an altitude of over 900 meters above sea level, on soils that are mostly limestone and not very fertile. The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in 15 kg crates. Once in the winery, the grapes are destemmed and placed in containers without crushing. They undergo a cold pre-fermentation maceration (6ºC) for 7 days. The grapes ferment with local yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in these tanks. The wine is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels.
Valtravieso crianza is the reflection of the work of a winery that makes wines at altitude at 915m. A serious, full-bodied crianza, with notes of ripe fruit and spices, and with a marked natural acidity that gives a fresh and unctuous mouthfeel, coupled with a long finish on aromatic tannins.
