UKAN is the icon of the winery. The result of a meticulous selection of vineyards, which gives rise to three old vines cultivated in glass of tempranillo. Produced separately and assembled into an elegant and balanced red wine. UKAN is complex, full of nuances and with great aging potential.
The elegance of the old vines of Laguardia embodied in the icon of the winery of the same name, whose reins are held by the fifth generation of the Eguren family. This second vintage confirms the successful path already set by its predecessor and once again brings us a complex Tempranillo, full of nuances and with great aging potential. The first vintage of UKAN was marked by the rains that fell throughout the year, especially in September when the grapes were approaching optimum ripening, lengthening the growing cycle and leading to later harvest dates than in previous years in Rioja. Ten oak vats were used for fermentation, four of which were destined for the production of undestemmed clusters. After seventeen months in barrels, the blending of the vineyards was carried out in May 2020, resulting in an elegant and balanced wine that shows the freshness of the year in which it was born.
