The Protos Roble is, despite its short aging, a wine as elegant as its brothers in the winery, a young red wine, soft and full of fruity nuances. Its color is cherry red with a purple rim and its nose is frank and intense, highlighting aromas of red and black fruit accompanied by spicy notes and light toasted notes derived from its aging. In the mouth, it has good structure, is fruity and fresh, with a sweet, balanced palate and very pleasant soft tannins.
The technical department of Bodegas Protos is in charge of the exhaustive control of the vineyard, seeking every year the highest quality for the elaboration of our wines. This task is not easy, as we control 1,400 hectares spread throughout the geography of the Ribera del Duero, covering the best terms of the provinces of Valladolid, Burgos and even Segovia. Our wines come from the tempranillo variety 100%. The vine plantations are the 60% of espladera and the 40% of goblet. A strict control of the vineyards is carried out, taking into account the origin of the grapes to know the ideal date of harvest, with the objective of harvesting at the optimum moment of ripening. Harvesting at Bodegas Protos is completely manual, using 20kg. capacity boxes for old vine grapes. Once the grapes are received at the winery, the grapes are selected using the Selection Tables. This selection is made first cluster by cluster and then berry by berry, ensuring the highest quality in this process. The winemaking capacity amounts to 5,600,000 KG.
