Predicador is a red wine produced by Bodega Contador in the D.O. La Rioja. Bodega Contador is the long-awaited personal project of Benjamín Romeo, one of Spain's most outstanding viticulturists. His talent for viticulture was discovered when two consecutive vintages of his garage wine Contador (2004-2005) obtained 100 Parker points, a real feat. With Bodegas Contador, in San Vicente de Sonsierra (La Rioja) Benjamín Romeo wants to give continuity to a unique and personal style based on the attention to every detail of the wine gestation process. The Predicador wine is made from Tempranillo grapes and a pinch of Garnacha. The grapes come from vineyards between 20 and 35 years old, from 12 different plots. The vineyards are worked in an ecological and sustainable manner, organic matter is used to fertilize the soil, and the vines are treated only when essential and with non-residual products. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand in small 14kg boxes. Once harvested, the grapes are transported to the winery within a maximum of half an hour to avoid oxidation. For the production of Predicador, after careful destemming, the grapes are fermented in truncated cone-shaped and stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 19-24ºC for 7-10 days. Finally, after vinification, Predicador is aged for 15 months in French oak barrels of 1 wine. Predicador is a great pretext to start getting to know the excellent wines of Benjamin Romeo.
