The Rawson's Retreat range of wines was named after the Penfolds founder's family cottage. He built it in 1845, a year after planting his first vineyard on the property. This red wine is made from Cabernet Savignon and Syrah grapes, which contributes aromas of berries. It is powerful and perfectly matched, with a finish that lingers. Founded in 1844 by Christopher Rawson, Penfolds is an undisputed reference in the world of wine and an emblem in Australia. Two wineries located in South Australia make up the company: the first and historic one is in Adelaide, and the main one is currently in the Barossa Valley. They started out making fortified wines for medicinal use, but the evolution of this winery over time led them to change these wines that made them known, to create a wide range of wines with great prestige and reputation. The work philosophy of Max Schubert, Penfolds' first winemaker, followed by his three successors has led to create the potential that Penfolds has today, always trying to achieve the best possible wine with the product of each vintage.
