The vines from which it is nurtured grow in poor soils of pebbles, where the continental climate forces the plants to penetrate deep into the subsoil in search of water resources. On the other hand, the extreme temperatures allow for slow aromatic ripening of the grapes while maintaining good acidity. The must fermentation took place in different formats: stainless steel, concrete and wooden vats. The wines were then aged on their lees for 4 months. Finally, the different vinifications were blended. The blending is what gives uniqueness to this famous Verdejo white wine. Its 2021 vintage obtained 94 points in three of the most important Spanish wine guides: Peñín, Proensa and La Guía de vinos Gourmets. Bodegas José Pariente was founded in 1998 under the leadership of María Victoria Pariente, who named the winery after her father, also a winegrower and winemaker. Today the firm is run by the second generation: Ignacio and Martina Prieto Pariente, María Victoria's children. The current facilities were inaugurated in 2008 and are equipped with state-of-the-art technology. From them you can appreciate a panoramic view of their vineyards, a total of 40 hectares spread between the municipalities of Rueda and La Seca in a moor at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level. All the vines are harvested and processed separately. José Pariente Verdejo makes a good harmony with sea bream in salt, rice with fish and seafood and Iberian ham.
José Pariente Verdejo is the maximum and authentic expression of our native variety. The freshest and most elegant affirmation, made from 30-year-old vines and a selection of old vines. Its aroma offers us the minerality of the stony soil of the area, combined with hints of fennel, anise, white fruit and stone fruit. The palate is unctuous, sweet and elegant, with a soft touch of bitterness at the end, characteristic of the Verdejo variety. A complex and intense wine. The flagship of the house.
