"In our search for great terroirs, the Toro D.O. and Tinta de Toro, its unique variety, El Dorado appeared to us right away." "Despite its important past, the Toro D.O. did not enjoy the reputation it deserves. It was an appellation that remained in the shadow of its prestigious neighbor, Ribera del Duero", says François Lurton.
The history of the Lurton brothers begins in 1992, in Rueda, with the discovery of its native and unique grape, the Verdejo. Our vineyards are located in the south of Castilla y León, distributed in two appellations of origin, Rueda, which produces white wines, and Toro, where our red wines come from. Viticulture has been practiced in these lands since time immemorial. The Catholic Monarchs were already producing renowned wines here in the 15th century. These are large terroirs furrowed by the Duero River and with a very marked identity, where the vines grow in poor, sandy, deep and stony soils, of "boulders".
Authenticity, terroir, culture and work, these are the values that reflect and compose the wines of Hermanos Lurton. We invite you to know the reason of existence and the essence of our wines produced in Rueda and Toro.
