This 10-year-old whisky is part of the "Soleo Collection", a tribute to the artisans of Jerez and the makers of fortified wines, as this single malt is aged in oak casks in which oloroso sherries were previously matured. The name of the collection refers to "soleo" (sun-drying of the grapes to prepare them for fermentation). It has aged for 10 years in sherry casks and has been bottled with its natural color. For The Glenrothes master distiller, Alasdair Anderson, this whisky is "one of the most refreshing in our collection. The blend of seasoned European and American oak sherry casks brings brighter notes and flavors to our new 10 year old". Distilled in traditional copper stills and aged for 10 years in American and European oak casks that had previously contained Oloroso de Jerez wine. Very clean and bright amber color, with seductive aromas of vanilla, butter and hints of lemon rind. Warm and caressing passage leaving behind a sweet memory of light malt and hints of lemon peel. Sweet, lingering and tasty finish.
The Glenrothes 10 years, The Soleo Collection is a whiskey aged only in oak casks wrapped with sherry and bottled with its natural color. With a character of vanilla, butterscotch and lemon zest. A delicate single malt with a more subtle style.
