Pago los Ismas. Own certified organic vineyard, located in Curiel de Duero, under the peak of Las Pinzas, between 830 and 860 meters above sea level. The soil is predominantly clay-limestone, with some sandy outcrops. This soil favors very good ripening, giving rise to very colored wines with good structure and very fine tannins. Extreme continental climate. Harvested by hand in boxes. In the winery, manual selection of clusters and grapes. Fermentation with selected indigenous yeast in small concrete tanks. Aged for 26 months in French (90%) and American (10%) oak barrels. 50% new barrel. Clarified and filtered just before bottling. Medium-high layer, cherry red with garnet reflections, bright and very clean. Intense and spicy nose. Reminiscences of licorice, ripe red fruit, fennel, aromatic herbs and balsamic sensations stand out. The aromatic richness of this Tempranillo is such that only hints of oak spices, caramel, vanilla or cocoa can be detected. The palate is soft and ample, but without being opulent, showing throughout its length the great quality of its tannins, very fine and sweet. Aromatically it is more spicy, finding again ripe red fruit but also vanilla, caramel, scrubland and licorice, adding complexity to the whole. The aftertaste is very long and silky, leaving a fresh sensation that invites to drink.
Familia Comenge pays tribute to the great wines of the Ribera del Duero. If there is one thing that characterizes the Tempranillo of this estate, called Los Ismas, it is its excellent aging capacity. After aging for 25 months in French oak barrels, this red wine acquires great intensity, elegance, finesse and persistence.
