Four bear tracks discovered in a magnificent vineyard in the highest areas of Bierzo inspired the name of this wine. Four firm steps that are essential to achieve excellence: selection of land, care of the vine, ideal climate and care in the elaboration.
At the foot of the Camino de Santiago, stands an 18th century manor house with spacious rooms and high ceilings. Its foundations have always known the art of winemaking and its soils have been stained thousands of times with the must of the mencía grape. Abandoned for a few decades, the former winery can remain so forever. It is the perfect place. In 2003, Cuatro Pasos was born. Quickly, the stables give way to the cellars and the old concrete tanks are used as aging warehouses. The old and the modern combine perfectly in favor of a good result. The spirit that had been lost is once again present. It already smells of wine. There is nothing like feeling at home.
Cuatro Pasos Black, 100% Mencía, is made from selected grapes from balanced low-yielding vines, most of them over 80 years old, from vineyards located in hillside areas of the Bierzo region. After vinification, the wine is aged for 7 to 8 months in 225L French and American oak barrels of medium toast. It is bottled without fining so it may contain particles in suspension.
