Copper Dog is an impressive blend of no fewer than eight single malts, bursting with flavor and personality. Our mix was born in a pub, and that's how Copper Dog is best enjoyed: huddled together at a bar, telling stories and sharing stories and drinks among good friends.
Mainly we are talking about a blended malt scotch whisky. That is, a Scotch whiskey made exclusively from malt whiskeys from different distilleries. In this case it is a blend of malts from eight different distilleries, all from the Speyside region. The whiskey has no age statement, and is bottled at 40% alcohol by volume.
This whiskey is produced in association with the pub that shares its name, located in the historic Craigellachie Hotel on Speyside. The name of both the whiskey and the pub refer to a makeshift copper device once used by distillery workers to illicitly sample whiskey from maturing casks. This device was made of copper and shaped like a long, hollow whistle and was hung from a chain. Legend has it that they were kept in the lining of their pants or that they even went around the neck of one of their dogs so as not to be detected.
