Viña del Olivo aims to be the maximum expression of Contino's terroir as it is one of the few calcareous clay estates in Contino (the rest is almost all alluvial) with a very high content of active limestone, a slope of 5 to 7% with southern exposure, rainfed and without the use of herbicides and organic fertilization. Mineral and ageing wine, expressing its modernity with harmony and balance. For the elaboration of Contino Viña del Olivo, the best bunches of grapes from our plot of El Olivo (a 700 year old vineyard) are selected by hand. Harvested in boxes with great care and selected on the table once they arrive at the winery, they are taken to our selection table and fermented in French oak vats of 100 Hl. at temperatures of 28º to 30ºC for 10 days, after another 10 days of maceration. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in tank, and once finished, the wine is transferred to new barrels (49% of the barrels) and second use barrels (the remaining 51%), of French origin in 80% and American origin in 20%, where it remains for 14 months of barrel aging. After this period, the wine is transferred to a wooden vat for 2 months before bottling.
Fragrant nose with high aromatic intensity of red and black fruits that combine perfectly with floral notes and subtle mineral aromas. The palate is voluminous, succulent and fresh, with vibrant acidity. A wine with great strength and elegance, in which its soft and structured tannins stand out. Blend: 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, 5% Mazuelo
