Ekam in Sanskrit means "divine unity" and is the name of Raúl Bobet's unique blend of Riesling and Albariño from the Pyrenees. Fruity in its youth, this aging white evolves towards an extremely elegant mineral complexity, characteristic of cold climate Rieslings, which surprises and captivates. It is also accompanied by a well-integrated acidity and a certain glyceric character typical of botrytized wines.
Passionate about nature, perfectionist and with a deep thirst for knowledge, Raül Bobet is a winemaker who has taken his interest to the highest levels with his vineyards in the Pyrenees. Under the D.O. Costers del Segre, Castell d'Encús is the most personal project of this winemaker with a long career and also responsible for the wines of Ferrer Bobet.
Castell d'Encús is located at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level, in a privileged environment that offers good solar exposure and a high temperature variation between day and night. The estate has 23 hectares of vineyards of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, pinot noir, syrah, petit verdot, sauvignon blanc, riesling, semillon and albariño on calcareous loam soils with low organic content. Among its plots are also numerous fermentation vats dug into the rocks in the twelfth century, which are currently being reused in the fermentation process along with the wooden and stainless steel vats.
Along with the recovery of the oldest and most traditional methods, the winery is also characterized by the use of the most advanced technology and a philosophy based on research and experimentation. The result of all this is wines with their own style, fresh, complex and with great personality.
