Our Chardonnay Bourgogne "Vieilles Vignes" (old vines) is made from 25 to 35 year old vines located in the Côte de Beaune and Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. The diversity of their exposure and altitude allows us to work with a mosaic of plots. In this way, we achieve great aromatic complexity. The venerable age of the vines gives this wine particularly concentrated aromas, with frank and characteristic flavors.
The first traces of the Bichot family date back to 1214. They settled in Burgundy in 1350. In 1831, Bernard Bichot founded a wine trading company in Monthélie in his name. His son, Hippolyte, succeeded him and bought the first vines at Volnay. His son, Albert Bichot, the first to bear the name, gave new impetus to the family business at the end of the 19th century and settled permanently in the center of Beaune in 1912.
The second Albert Bichot, born in 1900, was a pioneer of international trade. North America, Asia, Oceania… He traveled endlessly to introduce our wines, already recognized among the best, to wine lovers around the world.
In the second half of the 20th century, a new era of expansion begins with the construction of a large aging cellar, a new bottling center and a winery. Our wines were available on all continents.
Having set out to discover the world (from the Arctic to Adélie Land), Albéric Bichot joined the company in the early 1990s and took over as director in 1996. While fully respecting family traditions, he is fully focused on the future . The challenges are numerous: the conversion to organic viticulture of the Côte-d'Or vineyards, the continuous adaptation to new markets, the increase in prestige and the diffusion of Burgundy wines and much more. Convinced that the quality of the wine depends on the quality of the grape, he has focused on developing the previous control that was undertaken in the eighties. It secured supplies and began expanding winemaking capacity and aging cellars in 2010.
The company's vineyards now number 6 estates that cover Burgundy from north to south.
