"Centzon totochtin" translates as countless rabbits. 400 Rabbits is how the spirits of alcohol were called in pre-Hispanic Mexico, and they were related to awakening and sleep. The behavior of the drinker depended on the rabbit that dominated him. This custom is transformed, in bottle form, into 400 Conejos mezcal, a young mezcal made from 100% agave espadín, and produced in the mezcal capital of the world, Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, Mexico. Following tradition and using artisanal methods, Don Tacho and Joel Santiago, two important Mexican mezcal masters, grind the ingredients of 400 Conejos mezcal with a horse-drawn stone. Subsequently, fermentation takes place in wooden barrels and distillation is completed in copper cauldrons. It is recommended to be consumed standing up, accompanied by orange segments and worm salt, typical of Mexico. As it has a mild flavor, it can be mixed with mint, orange or lemon juice, which allows the consumer to highlight the touches and aromas of its tropical fruits.
400 Conejos® is finely crafted from 100% agaves and carries ancient Mesoamerican traditions in every bottle. Our award-winning mezcal is perfectly balanced and smooth, with soft hints of wood, sweet notes of cooked agave and a pleasant smoky finish.
